MACROBIOTICS: EATING FOR THE GREAT LIFE with Nishanga Bliss, LAc, on Hawthorn University’s Free Public Webinar — Tuesday, 11/16/10. Created in the 1950′s, macrobiotics is a visionary philosophy of food and a cooking and eating style based on the traditional wisdom of Asian medicine and Taoism. Conceived as a bridge between East and West, these ideas are ever more relevant today. This webinar will cover the history of macrobiotics, its basic tenets, an in-depth look at the macrobiotic diet, and a consideration of macrobiotics in cancer prevention and therapy. Nishanga Bliss is a doctoral student at Hawthorn University, a licensed acupuncturist, and an assistant professor of Oriental Medicine at the Acupuncture Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley. She was a macrobiotic chef for 8 years. She is currently at work on a book, Real Food All Year: Ancient Wisdom for Balanced Energy to be released in Spring 2012 by New Harbinger Press.
Im 18 i hav an “Eating disorder” n i cant afford rehab. I jave a twin sister and no parents because they both r alcholics. Running and excersise have been my relief. i havent gotten my menstural period for a year after loss of weight. i use to weigh 120lbs im 5,5 almost 5. 6 and now im like 112. not a bug differnce but im already thin. i jsut dont feel thin. i feel worthless. . . and being hungry takes my mind off my stress. but my sister and friends can see changes in my mood. . the food is all i think about. . . and how i plan my day. i dont know what to do. i have no fat people in my genes but i feel so much better when im thin. i dont LOOK TOO SKINNY i just look thin becuase ima runner n i have some muscle but i have no period. . and my best friend who itold tells me off all the health risks. i use to go to a therapist but that didnt work. does any one have ne idea? or tips of what i shud do. i feel huge. n the past 2 days ive been working out alot but actualy eating at least 1 meal in front of my sis.
My height is 175 and i weight 161 pounds (74 kg)1. What exercises are best for me? Well, dont say walking, i walk a lot and it is kinda boring. Also i love biking, but it is winter. . . 2. If i will be doing jumping workouts (jumping with rope, jumping jacks etc) will i loose some weight? Is it effective? Does it build muscles?3. How many calories should i eat everyday, if i want to loose 1- 2 kg a week?4. Do you know a site or smth where i can find GOOD and not old aerobic workouts? (not youtube)5. Can i do rollbacks? I know that then i should gain muscle and my stomach will look even bigger, it is true?Thx for all who answer!
