We were separated shortly after our 2005 marriage, and I am planning on remarrying. Do I need a divorce or not because immigrants have told me no divorce is necessary.

First off I live in texas if it makes any difference. Ok so my husband and I had some huge problems right after we got married. I had the certificate but because of those problems I didn’t mail it in. We had the wedding and everything but we werent married in front of a judge. The preacher signed it but I never turned it in. Someone told me that means we aren’t technically married because I never turned it in. So we still need to get actual divorce papers?

I mean how can you tell somebody that getting is wrong? You don’t know the whole situation so how you you determine that the couple need counseling if in all actually divorce is in the best interest. The spouse could be abusive, a gambler, cheater, or drug user. So why say you shouldn’t get married when sometimes the person didn’t see these things coming?
