The consumption of alcohol can increase the risk for a number of different cancers, including breast, liver, colon, and head and neck cancers. In this “8 Ways to Prevent Cancer” video, Washington University and Siteman Cancer Center prevention specialist Graham Colditz, MD, DrPH, explains the added risk, particularly for women.
WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY IN CARDIFF, WALES SEPT 2011 OVER A 1000 PEOPLE MARCHING IN THE CAPITAL CITY PROMOTING RECOVERY FROM DRUGS AND ALCOHOL. EIGHT OF US WENT FROM CHOOSELIFE AND WE ALL HEARD REAL LIFE RECOVERY STORIES FROM AROUND THE WORLD. RECOVERY FROM HEROIN AND ALCOHOL AND LOTS OF OTHER ADDICTIONS. WE HAVE TO TRY AND TAKE AWAY THE STIGMA THAT IS ATTACHED TO THESE PEOPLE AND TRY AND GET SOCIETY TO SEE THAT THESE ARE REAL PEOPLE WHO HAPPEN TO HAVE GONE DOWN THE WRONG PATH. YET WITH A LITTLE BIT OF SUPPORT CAN BE POSITIVE AND ACTIVE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITIES. . . THIS VIDEO IS AN OVERVIEW OF THE PEOPLE THAT WE WORK WITH. IT INCLUDES STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS, THOSE THAT ARE ABSTINENT AND THOSE STILL STRUGGGLING WITH THEIR ADDICTION. . . . . . Heroin addiction is plaguing our society as heroin addicts have to fund their heroin habits. The path of addiction start much earlier on in someone’s life. Cigarettes are definitely a gateway drug and normally opens the door to cannabis. I really believe that cannabis is the most deceptive drug that there is. We all know that heroin kills people yet cannabis sends a message that it is an okay drug, well it is not. For most heroin users once the heroin is out of their system they then have to learn recovery techniques to overcome their habitual practises and remain consequence free from the drug. Yet when you give up cannabis the THC in the drug deposits itself in brain cells and you can suffer from flashbacks and panic attacks years later . . .
I’m doing an English project and I need a poem or song about a drug addict or alcoholic recovering from their addiction because they have seen that they have a family to live for, they have something worth fighting for. I can’t for the life of me find any poems or songs like this, though I’m sure they’re out there somewhere! So if you guys could help me out, I would be forever grateful! Thanks ever so much! ^^
I am taking a college course on drug and alcohol addiction and need a good topic to discuss for fifteen minutes (yuck!) lol! Does anyone have a good suggestion?
