Is drug addiction a common thing in people with BPD?

I? T? through the book of love Boomerang last two? few weeks. I think my ex, p? Re my son, perhaps? Be borderline. It also has problem? My addiction. Does anyone know if this is common for people BPD?

    Many people with BPD try to self medicate which leads to drug addiction, as well as alcoholism.

    Risky and reckless behavior is common in people with BPD. Drug use is often listed as one of the types of reckless behavior that someone with BPD might engage in. And a person who uses drugs might just get addicted to them. I don’t know how common drug addiction is in people with BPD, but it certainly is a behavior that fits within the diagnosis.

    Drug, alcohol, gambling, sex and religion can all be addictions that are a feature or one of the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder.
    Or are you talking about Borderline PErsonality Disorder? Hell, those people will do ANYTHING for attention and they will ruin your life!

    There are very often co-occurring mental disorders when substance abuse. This is why the best rehab centers offer what is called a “dual diagnosis”, wherein those in treatment have a separate dual therapist to assist with the co-occurring disorders, in addition to their regular chemical dependency counselor. I would suggest you call a confidential hotline and ask them any specific questions you have. They will likely be able to advise you as to the best options available for your ex, to help him get the help he needs, which in turn will benefit your sons life a lot.

    Detox centers have experience in dual diagnosis, which helps people with psychological disorders and addiction. This is a common problem and they offer plans of support which address both these problems. Best of luck.
