  1. There is a correlation between people who smoke pot and people who use hard drugs in that you are more likely to do hard drugs if you smoke pot than someone who doesn’t smoke pot. However, I don’t know of any conclusive evidence that shows smoking pot MAKES you go to harder drugs, rather the type of person who would do hard drugs would probably do pot first, while someone who wouldn’t do pot likely won’t try harder drugs either.

  2. They say it is a “gateway” top other drugs.

I “know” more people that smoke cannibis and drink a few beers that do nothing else. All functioning in society without antidepressants and painkillers.

  3. It is a popular belief that Marijuana is considered a “gateway drug”. Personally, I think this is propaganda. Cannabis is probably the safest substance you could use. It doesn’t tear up your liver and cause Diabetes or Hepatitis like alcohol. It doesn’t cause Lung Cancer (and your potential death) like Tobacco. I’ve been smoking Marijuana for years, and I’m still a normal, functioning member of society with no additional drug habits. I don’t even drink alcohol.

Nobody has gotten high on Marijuana and beat their family. And nobody has certainly ever died from it.

The positive effects outweight the negative. The only types of people who would use it as a stepping stone to other drugs, are merely the weak minded.
