Grown adult siblings play a game of “War” and make up sayings mocking their parent. immature or bitter?

Reserved asked:

Adult children, early 30′s write down a statement for each playing card that mocks one of their parents and they say them as they throw down the cards.

They did this as children in which they would mock most of the family … they always played in private and kept it secret from the adults …

20 years later they were re-inspired to play again … now is this behavior sick, immature, or bitter, funny or stress relief?

In terms of mocking, it is the outrageous behavior of a parent – not bad behavior towards the children, but towards others in general.

Immature. It’s likely they don’t have children of their own or they would know both how hard it is to raise children as well as realize some decisions parents don’t want to make but have to because of the overall good for the child.

Well, I think it is kinda funny. People should be able to joke around. Some people are very sensitive, so if any feelings are being hurt, it needs to stop.

It’s disrespectful! And one day when their parents are gone, they will carry the guilt for being so cruel.

in my family it would be bitter because of the way we were treated as kids(abuse) it would be a way to get our feelings out.it isn’t something i would do now,but when we were kids,it might have made us all feel better.

I think “I’d have to have been there”, to hear the exact spirit and tones. If there is no affection in their laughter, then it sounds, sick, immature and bitter. But if they are mocking themselves a bit (for playing the game as if their perspective has not been mellowed by time), then it can be pretty funny…or at least stress relieving.

    Very immature.

At 45, I’m the youngest of my siblings. The youngest sister will be 50 this year, and she still has bitterness about her childhood. Mind you, our parents were excellent [all of our needs were met, as were a lot of our wants], but my sister still blames them for not having been perfect. Incredible.

As for the group you mentioned, they’re like my sister — they really need to move on with their lives and stop re-living their pasts so freshly.
